UIs in North Kazakhstan region produces 700 packages of worms per day

In the institution EC-164/3 of the Department of the Penal correction system for the North Kazakhstan region, the production of national food-worms has been established.
Seven entrepreneurs have opened their own business on the territory of the EU-164/3 institution. Today, they provide employment for convicts. A month ago, worm production was established here. 5 people are involved in the preparation of national dishes. They work around the clock in two shifts and receive a corresponding salary.
"Every day the worm is delivered to us. We grind it and add various additives - butter, milk, salt. We round and form so that the weight is 8-10 G. After drying, we set aside 30 grams so that it is convenient to sell. On average, we produce 700 such packages per day. About 40 kilograms of cheese are consumed in one day. Before we started, the technologist taught us how to do it for two days. I used to see how the worm works in our grandmothers. And in general, my profession is an agronomist," says Arman Munkebayev, a worker of the worm production shop.
Arman is a native of Kostanay region, he was sentenced to 3 years in prison for driving under the influence of alcohol three times. It was only 4 months ago.
"In April, a local individual entrepreneur came to us with his proposal. We showed him an empty building, and he liked it. Within a month, we started production, prepared a workshop and introduced the necessary equipment. The convicts were trained, they were subjected to a special medical examination and prepared documents, as they were engaged in the production of food. Only then did he start his profession and start working," says Bauyrzhan Rustemov, head of the Department of the EU - 164/3 institution of the DUIs in North Kazakhstan region.
In total, there are currently 1,600 convicts in correctional institutions in North Kazakhstan region. Today, 55% of able-bodied prisoners are employed.
