Majilis deputy visited pre-trial detention center in Taldykorgan

The Department of UIs of Almaty region organized a visit of Deputy of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan Zhanarbek Ashimzhanov to the pre-trial detention center located in Taldykorgan.
The deputy of the Mazhilis together with the head of the LA-155/16 institution of the DUIs in Almaty region A. Abdrakhmanov visited the cells of investigative prisoners who took part in mass protests in the country at the beginning of this year.
The deputy checked the security of the legal conditions and compliance with the rights of the investigating prisoners, as well as conducted a personal reception of several people who were involved in the January events.
When requesting persons held in pre-trial detention facilities, no complaints and appeals were received, there were no protests against the administration of the institution, no facts of torture and other illegal actions and appeals were established. Investigation-the detainees thanked the institution for providing medical assistance and for the timely referral of human rights defenders and lawyers to them.
In addition, the administration of the institution introduced the deputy to a round-the-clock video surveillance system, which is one of the ways to eliminate any illegal actions.
In turn, the head of the pre-trial detention center Arnai Kanatovich noted that the institution is visited on a regular basis by representatives of the prosecutor's office, the Commissioner for human rights, as well as members of the National Preventive Mechanism and the public Control Commission.
