Paintings of Kazakh convicts exhibited at NFT auction

The exhibits were selected based on the results of the republican contest of painting and applied art among convicts - "Umit-2021". In total, according to the results of the competition, 4 paintings from 25 participants were selected in the Committee of the Penal Enforcement System, which were turned into NFT tokens.

The works of convicts from all over Kazakhstan were evaluated by Ismailov Shavkat, a member of the Coordinating Council of the European Creative Guild, and Zharalgasova Kulmayram, a painter and a member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan.

"Holding such events has great potential, it is not only a simple participation of the convicted person in the competition, it is also a search for opportunities to realize his talents. In our practice, there are already cases when convicts participated at various sites and auctions and thus found new ways to earn money and realize their talents," said the head of the Department of CUIS Munaytpasova Bibigul.

The auction on the NFT marketplace will last a week, the starting price of one painting is 0.1 ETH (414.76 US dollars). In addition, the participants of the contest, in case of sale of their works, will donate the proceeds to charity.
