Today, the Prosecutor General's office of the Republic of Kazakhstan has again resolved the issue of returning three convicted citizens from China to their homeland for further serving their sentences.
On February 22, 2017, the Ministry of justice of China granted the requests of the Prosecutor General of the Republic of Kazakhstan on this issue.
Citizens A. and B. were serving a sentence imposed by a Chinese court for smuggling 719 pieces of Amur saiga antlers worth more than 3.5 million us dollars.
The third citizen S. also smuggled to China a bear skin, 35 bear paws and 13.71 kg of Cordyceps (a rare type of mushroom used in traditional Chinese medicine), with a total cost of 115 thousand us dollars.
The sentences of Chinese courts are recognized in Kazakhstan and will be executed in accordance with national legislation.
This allowed our citizens to serve further sentences at home.
It should be noted that due to the established interaction with Chinese colleagues, 14 Kazakhstanis have already been transferred.
