Prosecutor General of Kazakhstan and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic Signed a Protocol on Cooperation

June 5, 2017, Astana. There was a meeting between Prosecutor General Zhakip Asanov and the Minister of Foreign Affairs of the Dominican Republic, Mr. Miguel Octavio Vargas Maldonado.

G. Asanov, spoke about the status and main directions of the Kazakhstan supervisory authority and priorities. He informed about the achievements and prospects in the field of international cooperation on legal aid, extradition, transfer of convicts. They noted that Kazakhstan has concluded more than 50 bilateral international treaties in this sphere.

The parties discussed the prospects for developing interaction in the criminal-legal sphere. At the coordination stage, the Dominican counterparts have drafts of bilateral agreements on extradition, the extradition of convicted persons and the provision of mutual legal assistance in criminal cases.

In the course of the meeting, the Protocol of inter-institutional cooperation between the General Prosecutor’s Office of Kazakhstan and the General Prosecutor's Office of the Dominican Republic was signed, which will lay the foundation for further development of interdepartmental cooperation in the criminal-legal sphere.
