Dear Kazakhstanis and guests of the country!

On the eve of the holidays, we remind you that driving a vehicle while intoxicated is an illegal act, can lead to death or injury of people, and drinking or appearing intoxicated in public places leads to various negative incidents, up to the commission of crimes.

Thus, according to the statistical data of the Committee on Legal Statistics and Special Records, 23,509 transport offenses committed in a state of alcoholic, narcotic and (or) toxic intoxication were registered in 2020.

Among them, 19,282 offenders were subjected to administrative arrest, 17,203 drunk drivers were deprived of a special right, 1,840 persons were fined in the amount of 157 million tenge.

We remind you that if a person drove a vehicle or as a result of driving committed an accident in a state of alcoholic intoxication and the victim was slightly injured, then he is subject to administrative liability with deprivation of the right to drive a vehicle.

In the future, in case of repetition, criminal liability occurs.

In 2020, amendments to the Criminal Code came into force, providing for violation of traffic Rules in a state of intoxication (Article 345-1 of the Criminal Code), depending on the severity of the act, imprisonment for up to 10 years and up to life imprisonment of a special right.

Also, the penalties for driving a vehicle while intoxicated, a person previously deprived of rights (Article 346 of the Criminal Code) have been tightened.

During this year, 2,792 road accidents were registered in the country due to the fault of participants who were in a state of alcoholic, narcotic and (or) toxic intoxication.

108 people were killed in these road accidents.

For violation of traffic rules in a state of intoxication, which resulted in the death and injury of people, 225 persons were convicted, of which 177 were sentenced to real imprisonment.

In addition, 11,175 persons were brought to administrative responsibility for drinking or appearing in public places in a state of intoxication,137 of them were minors.

In respect of 348 offenders, a penalty in the form of administrative arrest was imposed, the rest paid administrative fines.

In the upcoming New Year holidays, we ask all drivers not to allow driving a vehicle under the influence of alcohol.
