In Order not to Be Cold

During the operational meeting in the oblast akimat, Bulat Bakauov noted that his reception receives many calls from people who had been going in transit through Pavlodar and due to cold weather had to stay at the bus station. In particular, on January 21 at around 10 p.m. a bus with 22 people following from Omsk to Ust-Kamenogorsk was stopped in the oblast center. At the moment, the bus using diesel fuel, has already left to the destination.

“Departure from the bus station was limited only in order to prevent people from getting stuck on the road at night”, noted Ulan Zhazylbek, the first deputy head of the region. “Emergency services worked out the issue with their colleagues from Akmola and Karaganda oblasts, so that not to allow the busses from other regions go.”

As it turned out, Pavlodar rescuers worked out the same issue with the border oblasts of the Russian Federation.
“In the morning, I talked with akims of cities and districts, the lowest temperature of -43C was recorded in Sholaksor village, Aktogay district, therefore we need to minimize the number of trips in the region as much as possible”, Bulat Bakauov said. “If necessary, we need to provide escorting, but only provided that the buses reach the point before nightfall.”

During the meeting it was reported that in the oblast Emergency Department there is a crisis center functioning, town exits, as well as village exits are closed, and utility services are switched to a round-the-clock mode of operation. The head of the region instructed to monitor closely the situation and directed to intensify the preventive work in the private housing area, where fires occur with the onset of frosts.
