Ready to Fight against Blood-Sucking Insects

The Head of the Administration Yerzhan Imanzaipov said that this year more than 602 million tenge was allocated for disinsection work, 22 million of which were saved after public procurement. About 499 million tenge was spent for the purchase of almost 200,000 litres of “Bacticide” biological product, 29 million tenge was spent for the purchase of almost 4.5 thousand litres of the chemical drug called “Averfos”. Processing will be carried out both on the ground, and on water and from the air. For the record, this year the area of air processing was increased from 16 thousand to 20 thousand hectares. A special scientific group will observe the process of combating blood-sucking insects.

“Currently, a group of scientific support has developed a schedule of measures to combat blood-sucking insects and ensure sanitary and epidemiological welfare of the population,” – said the Head of the Energy and Housing. – “In a similar vein, since March the scientific group has been sampling the substrate to determine the species composition, density and development stage of the larvae of the blackflies.”

This year works on disinsection in cities and districts of the Oblast will be carried out at the expense of funds from the local budget. However, competitive procedures for supplying the necessary drugs and carrying out treatments have not yet been conducted in all areas.

“A quarter wasn’t enough for you to deal with this issue,” – Pavlodar Oblast Akim Bulat Bakauov was dissatisfied with the sluggishness of some of his subordinates. – “It seems to me that you are not monitoring current processes. Who will need your preparations and treatments after May 20? You have money, but you are not able to make purchases!”

Besides the point, an important role in the fight against mosquitoes and blackflies is played by dumping water from the Upper Irtysh cascade of reservoirs. As it was reported in the Irtysh Basin Inspection, if last year the volume of water discharged into the Irtysh was 7.63 cubic meters, this year this figure will be 6.15 cubic meters and the river will enter the riverbed no later than May 14.
