A joint plan to improve the ecological situation in Pavlodar region to be accepted by public figures, ministry and akimat

It was discussed in the meeting, held at the Pavlodar aluminum plant on August 6. The head of the Ministry of Ecology and akim met with environmental activists.

The Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources Magzum Mirzagaliyev arrived in Pavlodar region with a working trip. He went to see the progress of work on the canals named after K.Satpayev and "Irtysh-Uspenka", learnt about implementation of the irrigation technologies and environmental projects of the industrial enterprises and others. In particular, at the aluminum plant the minister and akim of the region met with representatives of the ecological community of the region, who raised the topical issues of environmental protection.

So, one of the proposals of public figures was to limit the construction of new industrial enterprises in the region. According to the minister, in Kazakhstan it is planned to use the international practice of introducing the limits on the level of pollution in any populated place or region. The new environmental code contains all norms.

“In any case, during the construction of a hazardous plant, there is a possibility of public hearings. The draft of the new environmental code includes the items on strengthening the influence of the public on the approval of projects. We plan to include planting trees in the Environmental Action Plan of the enterprises which pollute the environment. We will discuss it with ERG Company. It is also expected to tighten the legislative and regulatory framework for tree felling. It is necessary to plant trees and take care of them within three years”, Magzum Mirzagaliyev noted.

Abylkair Skakov noted the high civic activity of the ecological community of the region.

“There is an active ecological community in Pavlodar region. It consists of the famous people and unindifferent people to the given situation. The other day we met and discussed many issues. Many successful projects belong to the environmental community”, the head of the region said.

In the near future public figures, Ministry of Ecology and akimat will approve the Roadmap for improving the environmental situation in Pavlodar region. According to Abylkair Skakov, it will be a clear plan for solving the problems.

The environmental program of the enterprise was presented to the minister at the aluminum plant. In Pavlodar area Magzum Mirzagaliyev saw the project of reconstruction of the water canal “Irtysh-Uspenka”. By the end of 2021 it is planned to put in into operation. In 2022 it is expected to irrigate 10000 he of areas. It will increase the production of vegetables and melons and gourds in the region by 40%.
