Pavlodar volleyball players and government reached compromise – settle of arrears in salaries

Deputy akim of Pavlodar region Saken Shayakhmetov met with representatives of women's and men's volleyball clubs. He noted that no one refused to pay sportsmen and coaches. All arrears for November and December 2019 will be paid. For this, the local authorities raise money.

“Unfortunately, the debts (about KZ 100 mln) have been accumulated for the last four years. Money from sponsors will be spent for other needs, including fight against coronavirus. We will pay off a part of the debt by the end of this year and the rest - after signing a new memorandum. We plan to start paying off debts in one or two months”, deputy head of the region said.

Saken Shayakhmetov made an apology to the sportsmen for the situation and assured that the Pavlodar volleyball clubs would be financed for the coming season. However, the budget legislation does not allow paying salary to sportsmen and coaches from these funds. Therefore, in order to pay off the debts, they will look for new sponsors. The sportsmen and coaches (30 people) agreed to accept the proposal and asked to give them money as soon as possible.
