160th Anniversary of Mashkhur Zhussup Was Celebrated in Pavlodar Oblast

In Bayanaul District, the homeland of the great Kazakh writer-thinker, they established an ethnoaul of 35 yurts and arranged aitys. Yurt town is located in the natural landmark of Eskeldy. The start of the festivities was given after reading the prayer in the mausoleum complex of Mashkhur Zhussup Kopeev, which was built in 2006. In ethnoaul, a festive trade was organized. Children gladly launched kites, and the artists organized an outdoor plein air. In total, the holiday gathered more than 5 thousand people. Meanwhile, under a small tent the Akim of Pavlodar Oblast met with historians and literary critics, among whom were researchers of Mashkhur Zhussup’s work. Honorary guests of the meeting were Professor, academician of the National Academy of Sciences Meruert Abuseitova, writer Galym Zhailibay, as well as professor, doctor of philosophical sciences Ayazhan Sagitkyzy.

“In Pavlodar Oblast, they always revered their talented ancestors,” – said Bulat Bakauov. – “Not long ago we celebrated the 125th anniversary of Sultanmakhmut Toraigyrov, and today we remember our great Mashkhur Zhussup. In the homeland of our famous countrymen, very much is being done. Work is also underway in the direction of spiritual enrichment, the upbringing of the younger generation. I am very glad that on such holidays the people of our region come with children who immerse themselves in the culture and traditions of the Kazakh people. Thus, they are brought up to patriotism and love of their native land.”

Participants of the regional aitys spoke about their feelings for their homeland and their people from the main stage. Young akyns were divided into three pairs and were offered to compete in the mastery of impromptu and versification. Each speaker was given no more than 15 minutes. But even in this short time, the aytiskers were able to greet fellow countrymen, and amuse spectators, and “pinch” their rivals. Some akyns addressed the Akim of the region, expressing gratitude for the improvement of Bayanaul District and honouring the great people of the region. The local performer from the village of Zhanazhol Tlek Seitov won the competition.
