To Find a Compromise

Pavlodar builders and commodity producers met at the negotiating table in the regional chamber of entrepreneurs. Under the chairmanship of the Head of the Oblast, the parties discussed the issue of supporting domestic producers, who are not always able to participate in the supply of construction materials and equipment to general contractors who have won state purchases.

The Heads of construction companies noted that sometimes Kazakhstani, including Pavlodar, manufacturers overstate the price of their products, so much so that for the contractor it is easier to buy materials and technical equipment somewhere abroad. In addition, it happens that in Kazakhstan, they simply do not produce what builders or industrialists need.

“We need blades for mixers, cones for extruders, bio-hammers for crushers, but we cannot find such products in Kazakhstan,” – Alibek Kuanyshev, the representative of Vershina, LLP, said during the meeting. – “Annually for the purchase of these products we provide about KZT100 million, and all this money goes to China, although they could remain in our region.”

To solve the problem of interaction between contractors and suppliers the Akim of Pavlodar Oblast proposed to create associations of builders and commodity producers. According to the Head of the Oblast, the associations will help the parties to find a common language.

   “We were in Tyumen Oblast and met with representatives of the association of builders there,» – said Bulat Bakauov. – “So, there, this association can powerfully push the local executive power, defending its point of view through the legislative assembly.”

At the end of the dialogue, the Oblast Akim stated that he personally would head the commission for the support of domestic commodity producers. The commission members will meet on a quarterly basis, however, in case of urgent questions, they can meet out of the schedule.
