Funds seized from corrupt officials will be used for the construction of 72 new schools — The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan

The Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan has fixed a mechanism for transferring funds placed at the disposal of the state as a result of corruption trials for the construction of schools. The relevant amendments were approved by a resolution signed by the Prime Minister of the Republic of Kazakhstan Alikhan Smailov.

The order to transfer funds seized from corrupt officials to support the education infrastructure was announced by the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in a Message to the people on September 1, 2022, "A just state. One nation. A prosperous society.

" "The construction of new schools should be one of the priorities of the Government and akims. All illegally obtained funds that come to the disposal of the state as a result of corruption trials should be spent on the construction of schools," the President of Kazakhstan said.

To date, the Education Infrastructure Support Fund has received 121.7 billion tenge. At the same time, at the request of the regions, the Republican Budget Commission has already supported 72 projects worth 106.7 billion tenge: 94.1 billion tenge will be allocated for the completion of the construction of 69 schools for 85 thousand student places and another 12.6 billion tenge will be allocated for the construction of 3 new facilities (2 schools for 1400 academic places in two shifts and a boarding school for 200 beds) on behalf of the country's leadership.

Thus, the operation of this mechanism will make a significant contribution to solving the problems of three-shift training, emergency schools and a shortage of student places.
