Akim of the region Asain Baykhanov held a working meeting on pest control works against midges with heads of departments, a scientific group, contractors.
In her report, the head of the Department of Subsoil Use, Environment and Water Resources, Aigerim Kabyltayeva, noted that last year the measures taken to combat midges did not give the expected result in the districts of Aktogay, Terenkol and the city of Aksu. Due to the peculiarities of the floodplain landscape in these areas, there is a massive spread of wildebeest on the flooded floodplain.
In order to avoid a repetition of a similar situation this year, a Roadmap has been developed for each district of the region, where key, targeted measures are identified. In the most problematic areas, they decided to use the same methods as in the regional center. A map of airfields with aerodrome sites for cross-coverage of 33.5 thousand hectares of floodplain has been determined. The biological product will be sprayed by aviation, the isolated territories will be treated with a chemical preparation. In addition, barrier disinfection will be carried out in the districts.
River treatment against mosquito larvae and midges will take place in two rounds: from the extreme southern point of Beskaragai village of Akkula district downstream to Zhanabet village of Terenkol district. In total , 8 drainage points are provided along the entire length of the river with an interval of no more than 100 km. Also, river processing will be carried out additionally on the channels of the Irtysh (Belaya, Podstepka, Tallinka, Tyulka, Karatun, etc.).
One of the key points in the fight against midges is the timing of environmental releases of the Irtysh. This year, early spring is expected in both East Kazakhstan and Pavlodar regions, and therefore experts consider it rational to start water discharges in April after the start of the ice drift. In this regard, a number of proposals have been sent to the interdepartmental commission on the consideration of optimal parameters of releases for the Pavlodar region.
- Regardless of the timing of the release in Pavlodar, in the second decade of April, it is necessary to begin processing temporary reservoirs that are formed when snow melts and groundwater rises, suburban areas and basements, - Asain Baykhanov demanded.
The head of the region instructed to ensure systematic preparation for disinsection measures according to the approved algorithm and to complete all preparatory measures to combat midges in all regions within a week.
