Multimedia Museum Complex in Pavlodar Is Planned to Open in August Next Year

A meeting of the working group on the construction of a multimedia museum complex was held in the regional Akimat under the Chairmanship of the Head of Oblast, Bulat Bakauov. Historians, museum workers, architects and archaeologists discussed what a new museum should be. It is planned that it will occupy an area of 2.5 thousand square meters and will consist of three blocks – the museum of natural history, the museum of nomadic civilization and the ethnographic.

“The presence of a large museum gives any city, and, moreover, the regional centre the status, that is, with the advent of such a museum, the image of Pavlodar will significantly improve,” – says the Chief Architect of Pavlodar Oblast Nurlan Kakambetov. – “I consider it is a very good location for the museum, which will appear on the banks of the Irtysh, practically on the Central Embankment.” Construction of the new museum has already begun, but for the period of winter frosts, the working group decided to suspend construction work. Also, specialists are parallel involved in filling the complex. “It is supposed that multimedia content will be provided in each of the three blocks – guides on expositions, 3D reconstructions, and so on,” – said Archaeologist-researcher Timur Smagulov. – “Good exhibits and multimedia content will allow you to create a modern museum complex. In the museum of nomadic civilization, it is supposed to be an interactive zone, where everyone can project him or herself into ancient people and try to fashion a vessel, create a textile object, cast bronze or iron arrowhead. It is necessary for the visitors of the new museum to feel the “living tissue” of history and look at it all with the eyes of people who lived tens and hundreds of thousands of years ago.” Akim of Oblast noted that it is necessary to use a comprehensive strategy creating the museum complex, trying to solve all issues. This also applies to the improvement of the facility, the preparation of guides, and even the names for the new museum.
