In Pavlodar region, they plan to implement an investment project, within which they will not only prepare medical staff but also provide medical services. With such a proposal at a meeting with the Head of Oblast, Bulat Bakauov, the rector of Semey Medical University Ersin Zhunusov made a speech.

First of all, Ersin Zhunusov noted that Pavlodar region is the only region that allocates grants to the Regional Akim for training graduates not only for bachelor’s degree but also for magistracy, residency and internship. Last year 40 graduates from Pavlodar region entered the University of Semey.

The leadership of the medical university proposes to take to the economic department a city hospital number 3 of Pavlodar, where interns and residents of the university will be trained in the future. “One of the modern requirements of medical science is multi-centre research when several clinical bases conduct the investigation,” – said Ersin Zhunusov. – “Firstly, it will have a qualitative impact on the development of medical science, and, secondly, it allows you to attract more future doctors and medical staff in practical medicine”.

Following the talks, the Oblast Akim Bulat Bakauov instructed to create a joint working group to study the proposal of the medical university and provide a detailed analysis of the positive and negative consequences for the population of the regional centre, especially for residents of the Timber mill neighbourhood. The Head of Oblast also promised to visit the medical university and get acquainted with its activities in the area of ​​improving the quality of training medical specialists at all levels of education and creating a clinical base.

Semey Medical University has been teaching medical professionals for 65 years. The branch of the university in Pavlodar region has been operating for 35 years. By the Decree of the Government of the Republic of Kazakhstan dated November 19, 2018, the university received the status of a non-profit joint-stock company, which allows the university to implement post-graduate education completely. Students of the medical university do internships in the 500-bed hospital located in the building of the former regional hospital of Semey city.
