The head of the region instructed to develop an algorithm of interactions and introduce a unified scientific support for the fight against midges

To increase the area of cultivated areas, strengthen the use of aircraft processing and develop coordination of the entire scientific group. New approaches to reducing the number of midges were proposed today during a meeting on the results of disinsection work in 2022.

Since April 2022, 70 tons of biological and more than two thousand liters of chemical preparations have been used in the course of disinsection works to reduce the number of midges. At the same time, as reported by the head of the Department of Subsoil Use, Environment and Water Resources Aigerim Kabyltayeva, about 29.0 thousand hectares of floodplain lands have been processed. The average efficiency of all treatments was 90%.

– The main factors of the positive result were the timely elaboration of issues of optimal timing and volumes of environmental release, the use of new aircraft treatments, an increase in the amount of disinsection work in coastal areas and scientific support of the work, – said the head of the department.

However, the measures taken did not give the expected result in Aktogay and Irtysh districts, Terankol and Aksu. About 1300 complaints were received from residents. According to Aigerim Kabyltayeva, the most optimal option in solving this issue may be processing according to the "basic" option with aircraft processing of the Aktogay district and Terankol, as well as the city of Aksu. Thus, the coverage area of the floodplain will be increased to 71.5 thousand hectares, the air connection will be four aircraft. The advantage of this option will be an increase in forces and means in 2 problem areas, as well as the Aksu.

To achieve an effective result, as Abylkair Skakov stressed, it is important to develop an algorithm of actions and build a unified scientific support.

– It is important to develop an algorithm for the work and coordination of the entire scientific group. The second point is to develop an algorithm of interactions between the customer, science and the contractor. And third, to identify hard–to-reach places," the head of the region instructed the participants of the meeting. – Science should help us in further actions. Consolidation of science is the right approach. It is necessary to draw up a heat map of the districts, carry out preparatory work in advance, make winter and spring inspections.

At the same time, Doctor of Biological Sciences, Professor of the NAO Toraigyrov University Kanat Akhmetov suggested using an additional amount of drugs in hard-to-reach areas, all disinsection work should be carried out taking into account the presence of rifts on the Irtysh, and space monitoring can be used to compile a more accurate map.

Now there are 12 biologists in the region who are able to enter the unified headquarters of scientific support, but at least 14 more specialists are needed to cover the entire region. The akim of the region instructed to support scientists with grants who can study, analyze and identify the causes of the appearance of the midge in depth.

At the same time, the Department of Subsoil Use, Environment and Water Resources needs to monitor the readiness of akimats of cities and districts for the upcoming disinsection season. The contracting organization should supply all volumes of chemical and biological preparations within the approved deadlines, provide material and labor resources, consider attracting qualified scientists in the field of entomology. Akims of cities and districts were instructed by the head of the region to develop a high-quality technical specification together with the supervising department.
