“Your silver medal has become a significant contribution to the national team's treasury,” Abylkair Skakov told Serik Temirzhanov. - I must say that this is the first medal won by Pavlodar residents at the world boxing championships among men. It is doubly pleasant that thanks to this award our compatriot became the first among Pavlodar citizens to become the honored master of sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan in boxing. Congratulations on such a high achievement. I am sure that new sports challenges await you and your coaches, including the Summer Olympics.

As a reward for his excellent performance in the international arena, the athlete was handed the keys to the apartment. The boxer thanked all his fellow countrymen for their support and promised that he will make every effort to get the "gold" of major competitions in the future.

“After the Olympics, we worked hard and, I think, performed well at the world tournament,” said Serik Temirzhanov. - I'm not going to dwell on this. In the future, I want to turn the silver medal into a gold one. Thanks to everyone who was sick and supported us.

During the meeting, the mentor of the athlete Azamat Makazhanov was also noted. He admitted that as a coach he was much more worried than when he himself performed in the ring.

“By and large, we jumped on the last train, because the participation of our athlete in the World Championship was in doubt,” Azamat Makazhanov admitted. - But Serik, with his usual calmness, showed the result in sparring in the national team. Then Bakhtiyar Artayev (the state boxing coach of Kazakhstan - approx.) Said: get ready for the tournament, but with you a medal. We have completed this task.

At the World Boxing Championship in Belgrade, Serik Temirzhanov represented Kazakhstan in the weight category up to 57 kilograms. On his way to the finals, he defeated eminent fighters from Mongolia, Japan, India, Russia and Cuba. In the final, the Pavlodar athlete lost to the American Jamal Harvey.
