Green future

The head of the Association of Environmental Organizations of Kazakhstan presented her vision on reforming environmental legislation and improving the environment.
“No matter how many measures we take, harmful emissions from industrial enterprises do not decrease: for example, they have increased by 4.2% since 2016,” said Aigul Solovieva. – At present, we are working on five pilot projects for issuing green bonds with an international financial center, we urge local authorities to show interest and consider investing in these bonds.

In 2017 in the Pavlodar region about 600 thousand tons of pollutants were emitted. At the same time, emissions of gas fractions amounted to about 484 thousand tons of total emissions.
“In recent years, industrial enterprises of the region have massively installed high-efficiency dust filters, which have made it possible to reduce particulate emissions to a minimum,” said Akhan Omirbek, director of the corporate fund, Center for Ecological Technologies. – The lion’s share of emissions consists of gas fractions, the cleaning of which in enterprises has insignificant amounts.
Having heard the members of the public council, the mayor of Pavlodar region noted that today, as always, environmental issues concern people.
“It is necessary to create a competent working group from the Pavlodar region to make proposals to the new environmental code so that we are really involved in this document,” said the head of the region. – According to opinion polls, the issue of ecology is the number one task. This also applies to the care of greenery. I instruct my deputies to take all these issues under special control. I also ask the public to get involved in the implementation of the greening program of the three cities.
