Creative approach: How will the creative industry be developed in Pavlodar

A new art center, support for creative entrepreneurs and the success story of Imanbek and Scriptonite-this was discussed during a meeting with creative industry workers at the Center for the Development of Youth Initiatives.

The head of the republican project office for the development of the creative industry, Danat Zhumin, took part in the dialogue platform. From this point of view, he called Pavlodar one of the most promising regions of Kazakhstan and noted that today a Concept for the development of the creative industry is being developed at the state level.

- The main goal of this work is the development of the national economy, because if there is an opportunity to earn money from creativity, you need to do it, - said Danat Zhumin. - Today, the creative industry accounts for 2.3% of Kazakhstan's GDP, 3.6% of all employed in the country are involved in it. So far, our legislation does not define what the creative industry is, which means that there is no authorized body that would deal with this area, and there is no specific policy for its development. In addition, state support measures are not focused on the creative industry and it lacks trained personnel.

The guest from Nur-Sultan stressed that infrastructure is required for the full development of the creative industry. There are not enough places in Kazakhstan's cities and villages where creative people could try themselves, learn from the experience of their like-minded people and produce their own product. In Pavlodar, such a point of attraction should be the art center "Technikum", which is planned to be launched next year on the basis of the former railway college. As the head of the region Abylkair Skakov noted, this will be an open platform where everyone can come.

- There are many people who would like to share their talents, but they have nowhere to go, - said the mayor. - That's why we decided to present such a center where you can play sports, hold creative fairs and master classes, get new knowledge. We hope that it will become a meeting place for the creative community and generate creative ideas. The project of the center will soon pass the state examination and next year we will lay the financing for its implementation.

Danat Zhumin appreciated the project, but reminded: it is not enough to organize the space, you also need to manage it correctly. Therefore, the head of the region immediately announced a competition for the position of director of the art center. Abylkair Skakov said that this should be a person who is sick of his business and does not think like an official. At the same time, the candidate will have to prepare for the leadership a creative center. Representatives of the republican project office for the development of the creative industry promised to help with this.

At the end of the meeting, employees of the Pavlodar creative industry voiced their ideas. For example, the residents of Aksu proposed to install a monument in the city in honor of the victory of their fellow countryman - DJ and producer Imanbek Zeikenov - in one of the nominations of the Grammy Music Award. The mayor replied that such an opportunity would be considered, but he himself suggested another option - to make a film about the path to success of those Pavlodar residents who, thanks to their work, have become famous all over the world. The main story for the film could be the story of the same Imanbek or another popular musician from the Pavlodar region today, Scriptonite.
