30 thousand hectares of irrigation plan to introduce in Pavlodar region before the end of the year

On the eve of this, in the village of Kalkaman, the akim of the Pavlodar region gathered the farmers of Aksu and Ekibastuz rural zones to discuss irrigation prospects. Bulat Bakauov noted that, according to the comprehensive plan, until 2022 the area of irrigated land in the region will be increased 4.6 times – by 144 thousand hectares.

“This year we will introduce 30 thousand hectares of irrigation, and these are not just bare figures, but a real picture,” he said. – We made a flight around the land along the canal and calculated that we can use the plots over five kilometers in each direction from this waterway. Today, the main thing is to understand whether we have farmers who want to develop irrigation.

According to the oblast akim, not only local farmers, but also farmers from other regions of Kazakhstan should be invited to cooperate. To support farmers, they promise to build modern pumping stations, which cost about 50 million tenge. In addition, entrepreneurs have the right to rely on the return of 35% of the costs incurred for the construction of infrastructure.

“Today, among other things, we should attend to the issue of power supply to irrigated plots,” said Bulat Bakauov. – If we plan to irrigate about 40 thousand hectares along the canal, then we need 10 Megawatts of electricity. There are technical possibilities for this, but here it is necessary to check and, if necessary, repair the receiving cells.

Today in Pavlodar region there are 86.6 thousand hectares of irrigated land, 58.2 thousand of which are assigned to agricultural producers.
