The monument to Abay Kunanbayev installed in Pavlodar

The monuments are installed to the great Kazakh poet, composer, educator and philosopher Abay Kunanbayev in 10 cities and villages of Kazakhstan in honor of his 175th anniversary. A solemn opening of the monument to the poet took place on the central square in Pavlodar.

The height of the statue, made of bronze, is 5.25 meters. The pedestal is made of granite – 5 meters. The words of the philosopher are written on the pedestal - Abay Kunanbayev’s citation: «Адамзаттың бәрін сүй, бауырым деп...». The author of the monument is the member of the Union of Artists of Kazakhstan, sculptor Askar Nartov. His sketch project was chosen by the members of the commission for installation of new monuments in Kazakhstan in the Ministry of Culture and Sports of the Republic of Kazakhstan.

“This monument to the great Abay is the lasting memorial about cultural wealth. “Find yourself in the depths of your heart and do not muddy the spring” – Abay wrote. Each of his works is based on the idea of the image of an educated person. Abay's legacy is eternal. Many generations have grown and will grow using it”, akim of the region Abylkhair Skakov said in the solemn opening.

The historical researcher of the Kazakh philosophy Garifolla Esim, opera singer, honored artist of the Republic of Kazakhstan Shakhimardan Abilov, chairman of the regional council of veterans Rymtay Shokeyev as well as Pavlodar people of art, culture, literature and journalism took part in the opening of the monument. The guests laid the flowers to the new monument and expressed confidence that it would become one of the main sights of the city.

After the opening of the monument, Abylkair Skakov met with creative youth in the regional library. They were people who were engaged in literature, music, journalism, art and theatrical arts.

 “Abay is the main friend of youth, because he is ever young. I call people at the age of 40-50 "қола", which means "bronze" in Kazakh. Those who are 30-40 years old are called "күміс" - "silver" and people at the age of 15-25 - “golden” generation. In 10 years, you will rule the country”, Garifolla Esim said to the younger generation.

 Among those, who were in the meeting, there was the pupil of the school from Shakat village Galina Evloyeva. The tenth former has told that it is better to start learning the Kazakh language with Abay’s works and recited the poem «Жүрегім, нені сезесің?». The Honored Artist of Kazakhstan Shakhimardan Abilov sang the song - «Көзімнің қарасы».

After, the guests paid a visit to the gymnasium for gifted children N10 of Abay. A new building was built, repaired and equipped in the territory of the school under the program «Заманауи мектеп».
