The city anniversary

Yurts, whose guests could be treated with baursaks and pilaf, were installed by the city enterprises, state institutions and public organizations. In the ethnoaul there were the children’s playground and marketplace with goods of applied art. Representatives of Partizan district (Minsk) were invited as the guests. Two month ago Ekibastuz and Minsk became “sworn brothers”. 

 “The 60th anniversary is not the great date for the city, but Ekibastuz has a very interesting history for this time. It is a very beautiful city, and the holiday, which has been organized for its residents and guests, is amazing”, the head of the Department of Social Protection of the Partizan district of Minsk Svetlana Petrovna said.

The legendary Kazakhstan group “Dom-Mukasan” performed in the central stage of the ethnoaul. Active Ekibastuz people were awarded with prizes. The veterans of labor Duken Kyzgarin and Kairat Smagulov as well as the director of the Bogatyr Loading and Transportation Department of “Bogatyr Komir” LP, Alexander Grigoryev were awarded with “For the services to the region”.

“Only 25000 people lived in Ekibastuz 60 years ago. There were 4 schools, 1palace of culture, 1 children’s music school and 1 post office. Today Ekibastuz is the fuel-energy and large industrial center both in our region and in the country as a whole. Every year Ekibastuz becomes more beautiful and comfortable for life, its glorious past is harmonized with the dynamic present. Ekibastuz is not the modern industrial center, but also the city where talented, hardworking and creative people live”, akim of Pavlodar region Bulat Bakauov noted.

The monument to Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeyev was opened in Ekibastuz. The six-meter bronze statue was installed in the park at the entrance to the city. Its sculptors – brothers Zhaubasar and Zharylgasyn Iglanbekuly.

“Before we started to work, we had learnt the biography of Mashkhur Zhusup in detail. He was the man of many talents. He studied philosophy, poetry and etc.”, Zhaubasar Iglanbekuly said.

The head of the region, who took part in the solemn presentation of the monument, said that the present generation should read and know his great ancestor.

“Without the past, there is no future, therefore, we must honor our ancestors, including Mashkhur Zhusup. The fact that Kazakhs will live in prosperity, has been predicted by Mashkhur Zhusup and today we really live in the prosperous and stable country”, akim of Pavlodar region said.

The great-grandson of Mashkhur Zhusup Kopeyev Abay Sharapiyev told about the great Kazakh akyn.

“As my parents and grandfather used to say, Mashkhur Zhusup was the demanding person. He respected people who did manual work. In Bayanaul he had many friends who were engaged in blacksmithing. My great-grandfather has always been a welcome guest”, Abay added.

Some works of the Kazakh akyn were read at the monument. After that flowers were laid there.
