Boat racing

The department of boat racing was revived in Pavlodar, which had been worked in the regional center from 1968 to 1998. The head of the region Bulat Bakauov came to see the start of the first pulling races.

Veterans and fans of rowing took part in the competition. 12 boats covered the distance of two kilometers.

“Revival of this prestigious sport in our region has been offered since 2008. First of all, all proposals and letters were not considered but then it set the wheels in motion. Now we have all necessary equipment for boat racing”, the trainer of Olga Afanasyeva said.

First of all the covered berth has been built. 12 boats, 2 motorboats for trainers and special oars have been purchased. Today 12 children go to the classes, however the coaches plan to increase the number of children up to 50-60 children.

By the end of this year it is planned to finish the project for construction of the rowing canal. According to the designers, the sports facility will meet the Olympic standards. The rowing canal with width 135 meters and length 2.2 kilometers, will consist of 6 tracks. The bottom of the canal will be deepened in 3.5 meters from the water level.
