About the educational and research expedition "UI Ecobiocenter" in the "Katon-Karagai National Natural Park"

From July 20 to July 26, 2022, inclusive, an educational and research expedition to the "Katon-Karagai National Natural Park" took place, with the aim of conducting environmental, biological research and collecting material, according to individual scientific projects of schoolchildren.
From Ust-Kamenogorsk, a children's expedition consisting of 15 students and 4 teachers started the "Katon-Karagay National Natural Park" located in the territory of the East Kazakhstan region of the Katon-Karagay district. The Katon-Karagai State National Natural Park (KKGNNP) includes: the southern macroslopes of the Listvyaga and Katunsky ridges (the southern and eastern slopes of the Belukha node), the western part of the Ukok high-mountain plateau within Kazakhstan, the Southern Altai, Tarbagatai (Altai) and Sarymsakty ridges .
The first stop was located on the coast of the Bukhtarma reservoir near the village of Novaya Bukhtarma. After a brief briefing, the students made notes about the physical and geographical position of the study area and biodiversity objects.
The second stop was located on the opposite bank of the reservoir, already near the Narym ridge. The expedition members became interested in representatives of benthos, such as: various types of benthos, caddisflies, mollusks and oligochaetes.
For the next two days, the camp was located in the vicinity of Lake Rakhmanovskoye, which is located in the northeast of the Katon-Karagai region, at an altitude of 1760 m above sea level. m. A fascinating excursion was conducted by Anatoly Pavlovich Tsyganov along the ecological path of the lake.The children were delighted with the majestic vegetation of the shoreline of the lake. The names and properties of plants and animals filled up students' notebooks.
On the way to the next parking lot, which was located in the floodplain of the river. Bukhmarmy between the Listvyaga and Tarbagatay South Altai ridges, we visited the museum of the Berel barrows, where the students had a local history excursion.
The last stop was also located on the coast of the Bukhtarma reservoir, 10 km south of the village of Svinchatka, near the western slopes of the Narym Range.
In the ecological camp, cameral work of students with teachers-leaders was carried out according to the topics of scientific work.
On the morning of the last day, the expedition members summed up the results of the six-day work on notes in notebooks, collection material, video materials and photographs.
On July 26, the route passed through the Kurchum crossing, and further along the Samara highway we reached Ust-Kamenogorsk with a lot of unforgettable impressions and valuable material for scientific work, which will be presented at the children's scientific and practical conference in 2023.
