FREE 5G CONNECTION ZONE OPENED ON THE STREETS OF TURKISTAN
Kazakhtelecom, the largest telecom operator in the country, has launched a 5G base station in Turkistan. As a result, it was possible to create a 5G-hot spot zone of the fifth-generation cellular network on Bekzat Sattarkhanov Avenue in the city.Turkistan is one of the oldest cities in Kazakhstan, which should eventually become one of the Centers of domestic and foreign tourism. But in order to increase the tourist attractiveness of the settlement, which was formed many centuries ago at the intersection of caravan routes that passed through Samarkand, Bukhara, and Khiva, large-scale infrastructure works are also needed in the field of telecommunications. In this direction, this fall, the region took the first step towards the establishment of fifth-generation cellular communication: Kazakhtelecom JSC placed a 5G base station on Bekzat Sattarkhanov Avenue, which will connect the administrative center of the city with the entrance gates of the Regional Center.
"After many tests and pilot projects in the field of 5G, our company once again confirmed its status as a technological leader in this area, launching a regular fifth-generation network based on its infrastructure," said Kuanyshbek Yessekeyev, chairman of the management board of Kazakhtelecom JSC. This network will be available to all residents and guests of the city, users of smartphones adapted to 5G will appreciate all the advantages of the new standard when downloading "heavy" content, watching video content with UHD quality. In this way, it will feel the difference in speed and latency in 5G networks compared to 3G / 4G networks. Let me remind you that 5G technologies provide higher bandwidth than 4G technologies, create a very reliable large-scale communication system between devices, and also prevent signal delay and save battery power than 4G equipment. All this has a positive impact on the development of IoT, the spread of the new standard among the population. We are proud that Kazakhtelecom was the first to carry out large - scale work on the creation of new standard networks," he said.According to the first head of the company, 5G technology can be widely used both for mobile internet and for providing wireless internet access to the population, and for cases of IoT (Internet of Things, Internet of things). At the same time, on the basis of Big data, the service is fully automated, allows you to make managerial decisions, analyze and implement elements of the "smart city".
The 5G network was launched in the C-band range, i.e. in the wavelength range in Non-Standalone mode (NSA, non-autonomous standard), which is used for ground and satellite radio communications. The use of the NSA implies the possibility of connecting a 5G base station to an existing LTE network and integration with 4G packages of mobile operators operating in Kazakhstan. Now Turkistan already has devices adapted to 5G technology, and Altel and Tele2 subscribers will be able to use the new high-speed network. At the same time, it is important to note that today only Xiaomi and Huawei devices are connected to the 5G network in Kazakhstan. However, Kazakhtelecom is actively negotiating with Apple, Samsung and Vivo to re-equip devices from these manufacturers to support 5G technology in Kazakhstan.
According to Deputy akim of Turkistan region Rashid Ayupov, the launch of 5G networks in Turkistan is important not only for the region, but also for Kazakhstan as a whole. "We closely monitored the pilot project of Kazakhtelecom in Akkol, Akmola region, where digital solutions of the operator made it possible to introduce various elements of the" Smart City", which will make the life of citizens safer and more comfortable," said Rashid Ayupov. We would like to use such solutions in Turkistan, but we understand that our settlements require a fundamentally new, powerful infrastructure channel, which differs in size. One of them is the 5G standard, which has now opened up many opportunities for residents of Turkistan. 5G technology will allow us to realize new dimensions in mobility, speed and quality of Service.During the testing of these devices,we consistently achieved speeds of 1-1.2 Gbit/s, and the average network latency was 7-8 MS, which corresponds to the results we expected and advanced mobile broadband standards, and also meets the standard of URLLC, that is, very reliable communication with low latency. In other words, we tested the possibility of working with this network for an ordinary user with the most basic gadgets and made sure that the new network fully meets the parameters set by us," says Nurlan Meirmanov, General Director of innovation at the company.Kazakhtelecom expressed confidence that the first project presented in Turkistan is a prototype of the future hot spots that will be created throughout the country, which will become the basis for the development of the digital economy of Kazakhstan and the digital transformation of companies.
