The green belt is the "lungs" of Turkestan. In order to improve the environmental situation in the city of Turkestan, a green zone was created in 2019 on an area of 7700 hectares around the city. 11.5 million seedlings of deciduous trees were planted here. 9 million saplings of saxaul were planted on 3020 hectares of the green belt, seeds of saxaul were planted on 2500 hectares.
In general, today the area of the green belt, including the saxaul forests, has doubled and reached 13,220 hectares. There are 21,489,008 tree seedlings growing in the forest.
Due to the shortage of irrigation water in the vicinity of Turkestan on 268 hectares along the road leading to the airport, a drip irrigation system has been launched for watering trees In the remaining areas, 63% of planted tree seedlings are watered from wells, 25% from canals, 12% with pumps. An inventory of green spaces was carried out, in particular, their survival rate was checked, their condition was examined. The results showed that on 51.2% of the total area of 7700 hectares, the stability of seedlings is in good, average and satisfactory condition. The expansion of the area of artificial forests depends primarily on the work of nurseries. Therefore, KSU "Zhasyl Aimak" develops seed production, propagates woody and shrubby plants.
