For the first time in the last 30 years, since 2020, farmers in the southern region began to receive unhindered flow to their fields. As a result, a record cotton harvest was achieved. These achievements are due to the strengthening of ties in mutual cooperation between the two countries. The delegation headed by the Minister of Emergency Situations, Adviser to the President of the Republic of Uzbekistan Kudaibergenov Tursynkhan Aidarovich and the Minister of Water Resources Khamraev Shavkat Rakhimovich, who specially arrived in the Turkestan region, met with farmers of the cotton district. Together with the Minister of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the country Serikkali Brekeshov and akim of Turkestan region Umirzak Shukeyev, they got acquainted with the current life of Maktaaral residents.
Last year, flooded acreage was reconstructed in Maktaaral district and a lot of assistance in sowing raw cotton was provided by neighboring Uzbekistan. 40 units of special equipment and 250 tons of raw cotton were delivered from the Zhyzak and Syrdarya regions of the Republic of Uzbekistan, helped farmers in settlements to sow cotton again. Maktaaral agrarians remember the help from the neighboring state with gratitude. Moreover, despite the drought this year, farmers in cotton districts received irrigation water in sufficient volume.
As a result of the destruction of Sardoba, 7,500 hectares of cultivated areas in the Maktaaral district were affected. Work has been carried out on sowing cotton seeds. Then the Uzbek variety of cotton "Sultan", sown on the Myrzashol soil, gave a high yield. A special delegation visited the cotton field of the Almat farm and met with farmers. Despite the drought, farmers expect to get a rich harvest this year.
Along with this, cotton prices in the region have doubled compared to last year. In the Turkestan region, more than 200 cotton receiving points of 18 cotton processing plants accept 1 ton of raw cotton at 300 thousand tenge. To date, 33 thousand hectares have been harvested from the planned acreage, more than 70 thousand tons have been harvested.
"Last year, with the help of Uzbek equipment, Maktaaral residents transplanted cotton into flooded acreage. Friendly neighbors, in addition to equipment, gave out fuel and lubricants, passive material for free. For farmers, who suffered considerable losses at that time, it became a very great help. Thanks to daily and diligent work, a good cotton harvest has come out this year. The price has also risen. Now we are buying 300-320 tenge. Having agreed with neighboring Uzbekistan, we received sufficient water. We know that all this is being carried out with the support of Elbasy, on behalf of the Head of State, thanks to friendly relations with the neighboring country. Thanks to the support of the state, there are now enough fertilizers and fuels and lubricants. People are very happy. Now farmers will be able to increase their incomes” says Dauletbai Zhorymbetov, head of the Bagdat peasant farm.
This year it is planned to harvest 280 thousand tons of raw cotton from a total area of 110 thousand hectares. Cotton fiber is exported to Europe. In addition, 43 thousand tons of fuel and lubricants were allocated for harvesting. The price of fuel is released from 172 tenge per liter.
In addition, the delegation from Uzbekistan got acquainted with the construction of a 1200-seat school built in the new neighborhood of Myrzakent. The project, unique for the region, is distinguished by wide corridors, the quality of the finishing material and an increased set of the most modern equipment.
Mayor of the region Umirzak Shukeyev also familiarized the special delegation with the work of the private polyclinic "Kydyr ata" in the city of Zhetysai. Up to 120 patients can be treated in a modern equipped medical facility. The clinic's doctors exchange experience with Tashkent doctors who work 100 kilometers from this hospital.
