The akimat of the Turkestan region and the Republic of Uzbekistan signed a memorandum on mutual cooperation on the joint development of forestry. Representatives of the delegation of the leadership of the Ministries of Ecology, Geology and Natural Resources of the Republic of Kazakhstan and neighboring Uzbekistan, who arrived to get acquainted with the achievements of the region in the field of forestry, gave a positive assessment of the work done in the field in this direction. They also highly appreciated the work on improving the local environment and the “Green Belt” project.
The parties focused on the work carried out within the framework of the order of the Head of State on planting 2 billion seedlings of various trees on the lands of the state forest Fund to improve the environmental situation indicated in the Address to the People of Kazakhstan. Within the framework of the Comprehensive Plan for the Turkestan region, effective work has been carried out for 5 years to plant 170 million tree seedlings on an area of more than 110 thousand hectares. In order to implement the approved comprehensive plan, more than 50 seedlings of tree and shrub species are grown in forest nurseries of forestry institutions.
At the initiative of the governor of the region Umirzak Shukeyev, in 2019, a "Green Belt" was formed around the city of Turkestan on an area of 7700 hectares, 12 million tree seedlings were planted. Today, its territory has doubled. Moreover, it is planned to increase the green belt of the city by 20 thousand hectares by 2025. Thus, in 5-6 years these lands will turn into forests.
As a result of regular care of seedlings, their resistance is 60-65%. The soil and climatic conditions of the territory of the city of Turkestan are special. This is due to the clogging of the soil composition and a decrease in fertility. Taking this into account, scientists of Uzbekistan believe that with the stability of trees by 50%, it is a great achievement. During the visit, the Uzbek delegation visited the Saxaul territories of the region and shared their experience.
"Natural conditions should be taken into account. Planted seedlings never germinate 100 percent, it is impossible. There is a scientifically proven fact that shows that the survival rate of 50-55% of the planted tree is already a good indicator. To achieve such results, painstaking work is also needed. The climate in our country is similar and the results are the same. It is taking into account your weather conditions that the current work is a real feat, " said Zinovy Novitsky, head of the laboratory of the Scientific Research Institute of Forestry of the Republic of Uzbekistan.
In total, with the support of the regional akimat, it is planned to purchase 69 forestry units, including 34 tractors, 9 cars, 26 trailers, 21 tractors and 15 trailers have been purchased to date.
