Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev instructed to control the growth of food prices in the country and to stabilize the food market through stabilization funds.
In order to fulfill this order, the akimat of the Turkestan region approved an action plan for 2021 "Stabilization of prices for socially important food products".
According to official statistics, as of July 7, 2021, among 19 major cities of the republic, the price index for socially important food products in the city of Turkestan was 110.8%. According to this indicator, the city is on the 17th place.
In the third quarter of this year, an increase in 4 types of socially significant food products was 15% higher than the approved marginal prices.
Among them, sunflower oil - 773 tenge by 47.0% (the maximum price of 526 tenge), onion-85 tenge by 49.1% (the maximum price of 57 tenge), potatoes - by 75.3% 163 tenge (the maximum price of 93 tenge), carrots - 251 tenge by 122.1% (the maximum price of 113 tenge).
Due to the increase in prices for the above-mentioned socially significant food products by 15% from the marginal prices in the third quarter, in order to prevent an unjustified increase in prices for NWT in the regional center, agricultural fairs will be organized in retail outlets and microdistricts with a high concentration of the population in compliance with sanitary and hygienic standards.
