The Turkestan region is the leader in the Republic of Kazakhstan in the artificial cultivation of fish. There are 134 lakes in the region suitable for growing commercial fish. Of these, 88 reservoirs of local significance were transferred to nature users for fisheries purposes. Another 46 local reservoirs are put up for re-competition, and will be fully secured until the second half of this year.
To date, 133 enterprises with a capacity of more than 8.0 thousand tons per year are engaged in fishing in the region. Including three well-known large enterprises-STK "Hamit" in Shardara district, LLP "Komesh balyk" in Sairam district and LLP "FIRST FISH COMPANY" in Tulkubas district.
Experts note the high potential of the artificial fish farming industry in the Turkestan region. In addition, the program of subsidizing 30% of the cost of purchasing feed used by the state for aquaculture has a positive impact on the development of fisheries.
It is worth noting that with the planned 1,600 tons of fish products, in 2020, the region's producers exported 2801.7 tons of fish to Azerbaijan, Georgia, Israel, Russia, China and Uzbekistan, significantly exceeding the plan.
Recall, the Head of State Kassym-Jomart Tokayev in the Address to the people of Kazakhstan "KAZAKHSTAN IN A NEW REALITY: TIME FOR ACTION" noted that without the development of agriculture, it is impossible to create a competitive economy. He instructed to pay special attention , including to the fishing industry.
