DOCTORS OF THE TURKESTAN REGION PERFORMED A COMPLEX OPERATION ON A NEWBORN

Cardiac surgeons of the regional children's hospital of the Turkestan region saved a baby born with a heart defect. After a complex operation that lasted six hours, the baby was transferred to the cardiac intensive care unit.

The child was admitted from the city perinatal center in a serious condition on the line of sanaviation. Despite the small weight of the child – 2400 grams, a team of cardiac surgeons performed a complex high - tech operation for the three-day-old child- arterial switching of the main vessels with the «Lecompte» maneuver to eliminate a congenital heart defect.

According to doctors, thanks to the timely operation, the baby's health is not threatened by anything. To date, the child has been discharged and is being prepared for rehabilitation treatment in the conditions of the ODB. Since the beginning of the year, cardiac surgeons of the regional children's hospital have performed 6 similar operations on newborns.

According to the regional Department of Public Health, 250 open-heart operations are performed annually in the cardiac surgery department of the Turkestan Regional Children's Hospital. 40 percent of them are newborns with complex heart defects. Various training events are held in the Turkestan Regional Children's Hospital in order to improve the skills of doctors.
