170 MILLION SEEDLINGS TO BE PLANTED IN TURKESTAN REGION

By 2025, it is planned to plant more than 170 million trees on an area of more than 110 thousand hectares on the territory of the Turkestan region. Most of the green spaces will be planted in the regional center. The large-scale event is held in accordance with the Address of the Head of State to the people of Kazakhstan. In addition, by the 30th anniversary of the country's Independence, on the initiative of the mayor of the region Umirzak Shukeyev, more than 30 million trees were planted in the region.
The action "Birge taza Kazakhstan" dedicated to the Nature Day was held in the regional center with the participation of the deputy akim of the region Meirzhan Myrzaliyev, the head of the regional department of Natural Resources and Environmental Management Kairat Abdualiyev and media representatives.
During the event, about 150 employees of the regional department of natural Resources, the State Enterprise "Zhasyl Aimak", the regional department of Natural Resources planted more than 3,000 trees on 180 hectares. In addition, about 30 employees of the Syrdarya-Turkestan State Regional Nature Park and the regional territorial forest inspectorate cleaned springs and ditches in the Syrdarya-Turkestan regional park.
It should be noted that today the forest fund of the Turkestan region is 3 million 131 thousand hectares. The land covered with forest is 1 million 630 thousand hectares. At the initiative of the Governor of the region, according to the draft General Plan of the city of Turkestan, the plan for the formation of a "green belt" on an area of 7,700 hectares around the city will be fully implemented by the end of the year. Moreover, it is planned to plant saplings and seeds of saxaul and hardwoods on the territory of the" green belt "together with Kazatomprom JSC on an area of 7000 hectares. By the end of the year, this area is expected to increase to 20 thousand hectares.
At the same time, 179 million tenge was allocated from the regional budget for the maintenance, replenishment of forest stands, promotion of natural renewal of forests and development of forest nurseries. Currently, the area of forest nurseries has doubled and reached 730 hectares. It is planned to grow up to 40 million different tree seedlings annually.
In connection with the expansion of forest areas and in order to ensure high-quality, full implementation of the planned works in the field of forest reproduction and afforestation, the number of special equipment is also increasing. In particular, over the past three years, their number has exceeded more than 400. In the near future, it is planned to purchase 59 units of equipment and 48 units of auxiliary units.
In accordance with the Comprehensive Plan of Works for the greening of the city of Turkestan, programs for the development, expansion of forestry, and environmental protection are being intensively implemented. According to scientific estimates, 1 hectare of forest per year can purify 18 million cubic meters of air, and absorb more than 11 tons of harmful gases per day.
