UMIRZAK SHUKEYEV: OUR INVESTORS ARE OUR PATRIOTS

Akim of Turkestan region Umirzak Shukeyev held an online meeting of the Regional Council of Investors with the participation of heads of relevant organizations, Italian Ambassador to Kazakhstan Pasquale D'Avino and 25 major investors. Among them are "HEVE" L Group, "Artel Electronics"," ECOINVEST "LLP," Yntymak Agro XXI " and others.
At the beginning of the conference call, the mayor of the region noted that improving the investment climate, attracting and retaining investments are our key tasks.
"You should feel at home. And we will do everything in our power to do this. Our investors are our patriots. I would like to thank all the investors for their contribution to the development of our region. The region is new, as you know, it will soon be only 3 years since it was formed. Our priorities are, first of all, tourism, energy, processing, transport - everything related to the diversification of the economy," Umirzak Shukeyev addressed the foreign participants of the online conference.
As you know, at the end of 2020, the Turkestan region was recognized as the best region of the country in the rating of ease of doing business. The region is also the absolute leader in terms of investment growth (+60%) and construction (+66%).
Since its establishment, 91 projects worth 600 million dollars have been implemented in the Turkestan region and about 6 thousand jobs have been created. In the next four years, it is expected to implement 93 projects worth more than 1.5 trillion tenge, which will provide jobs for 21 thousand people.
"By the end of 2021, it is expected to launch 62 projects worth 306 billion tenge, which will provide jobs for 3,802 people. With foreign participation, it is planned to put into operation 12 projects worth 164.1 billion tenge with the creation of 1071 jobs, " deputy akim of the Turkestan region Meirzhan Myrzaliyev said. According to him, the main share of investments will be directed to the development of tourism, renewable energy, manufacturing and agriculture.
It should be noted that the Turkestan region has a significant resource potential in the field of renewable energy sources. The region is a net importer of electricity, and at the expense of its own capacity can cover only 20% of the total demand. At the moment, almost the entire volume of electricity generated is accounted for by RES (97%).
At the same time, the development of the tourism sector is one of the main tasks set by the Head of State. At the moment, the tourist flow is 1.5 million people, but in the coming years it is expected to increase to 5 million tourists. To improve the tourist infrastructure in 2020, 12 projects were implemented in the amount of 11.7 billion tenge with the creation of 321 jobs. The largest projects are Rixos Turkey and Hampton by Hilton hotels.
At the same time, this year it is expected to launch 20 projects totaling 120 billion tenge, with the creation of more than a thousand jobs. Among them, one of the anchor projects of the region is the multifunctional tourist complex "Keruen Sarai". Also, in the next two years, it is planned to build a tourist and recreational center "Kaskasu".
In addition, the emphasis is placed on attracting foreign investment in the manufacturing industry. Chemical, food, light industry and mechanical engineering are actively developing in the region. In 2020, 21 projects worth 7.5 billion tenge were implemented in the industry, creating 2 thousand jobs. In particular, we launched a project with foreign participation for 500 million tenge (a clothing factory of "Turkistan textile" LLP).
The investors thanked the Akimat of the Turkestan region and RAPIRE "TURKISTAN INVEST" for their assistance in the implementation of the project and noted the well-coordinated work of the front office and the akimat.
In turn, Umirzak Estayevich noted the great contribution of investors to the achievements of the region in the field of entrepreneurship and expressed hope for further fruitful cooperation. He also stressed that he will closely monitor the development of cooperation with major partners and will provide all possible assistance in solving emerging issues and implementing projects.
