ECONOMIC TIES WITH FRANCE STRENGTHEN

Akim of Turkestan region Umirzak Shukeyev received Ambassador Extraordinary and Plenipotentiary of France to Kazakhstan Didier Canesse and Consul General of France Alexis Shakhtakhtinsky, who arrived in Turkestan on a working visit.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the development of bilateral relations between the region and the Republic of France. Didier Canesse also expressed interest in developing tourism between the two countries, as France is very interested in the Turkestan region.

In turn, the head of the region noted that France became one of the first European countries to sign a Strategic partnership Agreement with Kazakhstan. The current high level of bilateral relations is the result of the agreements reached during the official visit of the First President of Kazakhstan, Nursultan Nazarbayev, to Paris in 2015.

"As you know, on June 19, 2018, by the Decree of Elbasy N. Nazarbayev, the Turkestan region was created, the administrative center of which was the city of Turkestan. The state pays special attention to the development of the region and the spiritual center of the country. Assigning the city the status of a regional center gave a significant impetus to attract investment. For our part, we are ready to fully support the initiatives of French companies to develop business in our area and hope to translate our cooperation into a long-term basis. To promote the economy of the Turkestan region, one of the main directions is the development of entrepreneurship, agriculture and the tourism industry. " Shukeyev said.

At the same time, the parties noted that cooperation between the two countries in the fields of tourism and education is one of the priorities of the strategic partnership. In particular, last autumn, an agreement on cooperation was signed between the International University of Tourism and Hospitality and the University of Ange.

The document provides for the exchange of students, faculty members for the purpose of training, research and exchange of experience, as well as the holding of joint conferences and seminars in the field of tourism and hospitality industry development. Special attention will be paid to the organization of language courses for future specialists.

The French diplomat noted that appropriate work will be carried out to expand mutual cooperation, stressing that he was impressed by the updated appearance of Turkestan – the spiritual capital of the entire Turkic world. Didier Canesse thanked the head of the region for the warm welcome and expressed confidence in the further strengthening of business and partnership cooperation.
