The new status of the city obliges to study the history, archeology and culture of the spiritual capital of Kazakhstan. Head of the region Umirzak Shukeyev and deputy akim of the region Saken Kalkamanov discussed a number of important issues with well-known scientists. Director of the Institute of archaeology, academician B. Baitanaev, famous archaeologists M. Tuyakbayev, A. Yerzhigitova, professor, director of the research center of the MKTU named after H. A. Yassawi D. Kenzhetai voiced their suggestions and advice on the development of a new concept of Turkestan.
"I propose to develop a comprehensive program. It will include the translation and publication of books related to the history of the city. We will include in this program information related to archaeological excavations, restoration and reconstruction of historical and cultural monuments, theatrical and musical productions and other issues that reveal the true role of the Holy city of Turkestan, " U. Shukeyev said.
From now on, the head of the region will discuss this issue with experts on a monthly basis. Scientists, in turn, noted that over the years of research of this amazing region, they managed to outline the picture of its historical and cultural phenomenon. In addition, according to scientists, historical and cultural monuments are the basis for research and understanding of the region's eventful past. The few written sources do not allow us to comprehend the full breadth, importance and brightness of historical events. Meanwhile, they are not only one of the foundations of the national idea, but also the image components of the region.
Scientists have noticed that, turning to the history of the study of Turkestan as a single historical and cultural area, it is necessary to start with the works of medieval authors. Study the works of Tabari, Ibn Khordadbeh, Maqdisi, Istahri, Ibn Haukal, Juweini, Sheref-d-DIN Yezdi, Wasifi and other great thinkers. Moreover, in the second half of the XIX century, the famous "Turkestanski albom" was released. This was a kind of result of many years of studying the vast geographical region of Central Asia.
The next stage can be considered the basics of archaeological study of Turkestan. They were laid in the Soviet era by the patriarch of Central Asian archaeology Mikhail Evgenievich Masson. By the way, the South Kazakhstan integrated expedition (SCAE) in 1947 was a logical continuation of his endeavors. Since 1971, the SKCAE worked under the guidance of an archaeologist, subsequently academician Karl Baipakov.
"The state program" Cultural heritage " 2004-2011, developed on the initiative of Elbasy N. A. Nazarbayev, has become another milestone in the intensive study of Turkestan. We have implemented numerous projects in the field of archaeology, conservation and restoration, the study of history, culture and historical heritage. Projects have been launched to promote the historical and cultural heritage and develop the tourism cluster. Continuing the study and popularization of the historical and cultural heritage of the Turkestan region is an urgent and important task. We need to develop a concept for further work, based primarily on three components-scientific study of conservation issues taking into account international principles and experience, popularization at the highest level and creation of the main geo-cultural brands of our country," the Governor of the region stressed.
At the same time, the national project of Kazakhstan "Sacred geography" became a logical continuation of the program "Cultural heritage". It was initiated in 2017 to conduct archaeological and ethno-cultural expeditions to historical sites of the country.
He also noted that it is already possible to speak with confidence about the monuments of the Otrar oasis, Kultobe, Sauran archaeological complex, Sidak, Borizhar necropolis, the settlements of Zhuantobe, Karaspan tobe, Sairam-Ispizhab, Suzak, the phenomenon of the silk road and many other objects as the foundations of future complex multi-faceted work.
