Today, the Commissioner for human rights met with the Chairman of the National Commission for women's affairs and family and demographic policy under the President of the Republic of Kazakhstan Lyazzat Ramazanova and discussed issues raised in the framework of the draft law of the Republic of Kazakhstan "On amendments to certain legislative acts on family and gender policy". The draft Law was initiated by a group of members of the Mazhilis of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. Specific proposals were developed for MPs consideration aimed at expanding the economic and social opportunities of women and families, in the context of the recommendations of the UN Committee on the elimination of discrimination against women and the 5th UN Sustainable Development Goal for the period of up to 2030.
The remote format of work, which has become a necessary reality of society in the conditions of quarantine, allowed us to quickly, without formalities, connect to this dialogue with the participation of MPs and public associations that are members of the working group. This approach to promoting legislative initiatives with the involvement of all parties contributes to the development of effective legal tools to address issues raised by citizens.
