The representative of the Ombudsman for Almaty region helped to protect the rights of a convict with a disability

The Office of the Ombudsman for Human Rights in the Republic of Kazakhstan is actively working to combat torture and ill-treatment. When the Ombudsman and his representatives receive such complaints, they immediately react to them and order special inspections.

So, the representative of the Commissioner for Almaty region, after an appeal from the lawyer Zhanara Balgabaeva, visited the penitentiary institution, where he recorded violations of the rights of the prisoner, who had a disability of the 1st group, on 24 points.

As a result of joint efforts with the lawyer, the prisoner was granted conditional early release.
