Human rights in the administration of justice

         A meeting was held between Ombudsman Artur Lastayev and the Chairman of the Supreme Court Aslambek Mergaliyev.

         During the meeting priorities in the sphere of protection of citizens' rights were discussed. 

         So, Artur Lastayev highlighted the provisions of the constitutional reform, which greatly increased the potential of the Ombudsman Institute, including the right to appeal to the Supreme Court for clarification of the judicial practice, including in the courts of general jurisdiction to protect the rights and freedoms of an unlimited range of people.

         The parties agreed to establish a mutual exchange of information during the consideration of complaints by the Ombudsman's Office.

         In conclusion, the parties noted the fruitful nature of the meeting and outlined further joint plans in the national human rights field.
