The Prosecutor General's Office continues to investigate criminal cases against police officers who used torture to detainees during the January events
Special prosecutors have completed the investigation into the case of the use of torture with cauterization with iron by the police of the Almaty region.
The use of torture by police officers from January 7 to January 17 to 23 citizens detained for committing mass riots in Taldykorgan has been proven.
5 police officers (3 employees of the Criminal Police Department, 1 inspector of the administrative police Department, and 1 SOBR officer) were recognized as suspects.
The criminal case has been sent to court. The investigation of other facts of the use of torture is nearing completion, the Prosecutor General's Office emphasizes.
