The Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights

During her visit to Geneva, the Commissioner for Human Rights in Kazakhstan Elvira Azimova met with the UN High Commissioner for Human Rights Michelle Bachelet.

The Human Rights Ombudsman provided information on the human rights situation in Kazakhstan, the work of the Ombudsman and the NPM during the events of "Tragic January", as well as on the initiatives of the President of Kazakhstan in the field of human rights protection, including strengthening the Ombudsman's mandate.

During the meeting, the parties discussed the reforms of Kazakhstan's law enforcement agencies, strengthening public control and countering violence against women and children.
