OVER THE YEAR, THE POPULATION OF THE REPUBLIC OF KAZAKHSTAN INCREASED BY 257 THOUSAND PEOPLE

The population of Kazakhstan as of September 1, 2021, amounted to 19 million 42 thousand 100 people. Compared to September 1, 2020, the population increased by 257.1 thousand people or 1.4%. This is reported by the Bureau of National Statistics.

At the same time, the urban population amounted to 11 million 287 thousand 400 people (59.3%), rural - 7 million 754 thousand 700 people (40.7%).

«The natural population growth of the republic in January-August 2021 compared to January-August 2020 (162.5 thousand people) increased by 10.1% and amounted to 178.9 thousand people. The total natural growth rate per 1000 population was 14.14 people», according to the Bureau of National Statistics.

As noted, according to the RAGS bodies, the number of births in January-August amounted to 296.5 thousand people, which is 8.4% more than in the corresponding period of 2020 (273.4 thousand people).

The total fertility rate per 1000 people was 23.44 births.

During the same period, 117.6 thousand people died, which is 6% more than last year (111 thousand people). The total mortality rate was 9.30 deaths per 1000 people.

At the same time, 2,345 deceased infants under the age of one year were registered.

Compared to the corresponding period in 2020 (2,129 deceased infants), infant mortality increased by 10.1%. The infant mortality rate was 7.91 cases per 1,000 births.
