The Ministry of trade is betting on the regionalization of trade in the EEU

As the Minister of trade and integration Bakhyt Sultanov stated during the reporting meeting before the population, trade between the countries of economic integration associations is becoming a key factor in supporting the development of the member States. "Maximum regionalization of trade should be a key goal of the EEU," he said.

According to him, in Kazakhstan "there is a question not only of creating a competitive product, but also of selling it abroad – it should be carried far away to Europe or America." "And so far it is profitable to carry only some highly specialized goods… But for all other products, it is very difficult for us to compete. Therefore, it is important to quickly and profitably trade with the nearest neighbors," the Minister said.

According to him, the majority of integration associations demonstrate trade activity, while the indicator of internal trade in the EEU is extremely low.

So, in particular, in the European Union – 63% of the total volume of trade occurs within the EU, in NAFTA-47%. In the Eurasian economic Union, this figure does not exceed 14%.

"We have a lot to work on in deepening trade and economic integration . And we will lobby for national interests in this field, " Sultanov said.
