Export acceleration program – a golden opportunity for Kazakhstani export to Chinese market

The first Export Acceleration program - "QazTrade ACCELERATOR: Food industry 2020" was launched by the Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration of Kazakhstan Azamat Askaruly on July 23, 2020.

The Vice-Minister highlighted that the project will substantially contribute to the accelerated growth of non-commodity exports of Kazakhstan and systematically educate exporters of a new formation. The event was fully held online.

The export acceleration program aims to be completely practice-oriented, starting from the production cycle to the shipment of goods. Support measures for enterprises will be carry out as part of comprehensive support for exporters on a package basis.

To participate in the first accelerator stream, 30 companies that already have ready-made production in the food industry will be selected. Participants will be actively trained for several months to strengthen the export component of their companies, as well as receive the necessary skills from international experts. The main result will be the mandatory signing of an export contract.

The export acceleration program from 2020 to 2025 plans to cover 1010 domestic producers. It is expected that 30% of them 303 enterprises will be companies that have not previously tried themselves in export activities and will receive their first export contracts. The remaining 70% are current export participants who will increase their export volumes or open new target markets with regular deliveries.

The food industry has been chosen for first export acceleration program in Kazakhstan because of enormous export potential. China will be aimed to be the main sales market for our producers to target.

«Considering the situation with the global pandemic and high demand for food products from neighboring countries, today it is necessary to adapt the domestic product line to new conditions and increase the pace of providing effective support to exporters. We will work with the Chinese provinces directly» - said Vice-Minister.

Also, during the launch of program Managing Director of JSC «National managing holding «Baiterek» Marat Omarov briefly presented the support measures for exporters which they cooperatively may provide with financial institutions.

The event was attended by the heads of Kazakhstan's development institutions, such as KazakhExport, QazIndustry, KTZ-Express, representatives of PwC in Russia, Kazakhstan and China, as well as representatives of Chinese companies.

In the first year of export acceleration program is being executed in partnership with PricewaterhouseCoopers, which has extensive experience and successful cases in executing similar programs.

Access to international markets always has its own specifics. Exporting goods to any country abroad involves confirming the standards of the importing country, obtaining a «local» quality certificate, and many other «technical» nuances. Not all entrepreneurs who want to export their products are aware of such issues. Today, more than 400 companies represent our domestic goods abroad, yet the share of non-commodity exports in the global trade chain remains low. However, as a result of the implementation of the acceleration program, export deliveries are expected to considerably increase.
