QazTrade is looking for sales markets for Kazakhstan's exports

Representatives of the "center for trade policy development" QazTrade" " MTI RK took part in a seminar-meeting of the Islamic organization for food security (IOPB), dedicated to trade cooperation of the member countries of the Organization of Islamic cooperation (OIC).
The meeting participants discussed issues of food security in the world, taking into account recent events, as well as prospects for promoting Kazakhstan's exports to the OIC countries.
In particular, the representative of the Islamic organization for food security said that the IOPB is ready to provide comprehensive assistance in promoting Kazakh products on the markets of the Organization's member countries. This includes organizing information exchange and establishing contacts with the private sector of 57 OIC member countries, as well as creating a list of the needs of individual States for agricultural products. For Kazakhstani goods in demand in the markets of these countries, it is also possible to provide assistance in the process of transportation and storage of goods.
It is worth noting that the countries of The organization of Islamic cooperation are considered by Kazakhstan as promising markets for Kazakhstan's export goods. First of all, processed products.
Previously, QazTrade, as part of its work to expand the geography of exports, conducted a market analysis of the OIC member countries.
According to QazTrade, the total trade turnover of Kazakhstan with South Asian countries is 2.3 billion us dollars, where the lion's share of trade is accounted for by India (79.7% - 1.9 billion $ ), a share of $ 402.2 million (17.2 %) is accounted for by trade with Afghanistan.
Today, trade between our countries is mainly represented by raw materials (oil and gas, metals and wheat).
"The study of the market needs of the South Asian region has shown that there is a potential for the supply of processed products of Kazakhstan production, "said Arman Abenov, General Director of the" center for the development of trade policy" QazTrade "" MTI RK. – If we consider access to the region through the Afghan market, then food products that can be stored for a long period of time predominate here: flour, confectionery, canned goods. We also see high consumer demand for Kazakh goods in India. Here, the greatest potential is available for manufacturing products: mineral products, machinery, equipment, devices and apparatuses, base metals and products made from them." In addition, Kazakhstan's products may be in demand in South Asia: flour, confectionery, semi-finished products made of non-alloy steel, flat rolled products made of iron, metal pipes, etc.
The potential for expanding cooperation with only two markets in the region (Afghanistan and India) can increase the volume of Kazakhstan's exports by half a billion dollars.
Another market analyzed by QazTrade specialists was the potential of Africa.
"Africa today is the fastest growing continent. We should use the moment to secure niches for Kazakhstan's business that can bring significant benefits, " Arman Abenov said.
According to the study of expanding the potential of Kazakhstan's exports to Africa, the continent will be in demand for products of the pharmaceutical and chemical industry, food industry, mechanical engineering, agriculture, mining.
"There are opportunities for participation of Kazakh construction companies in the construction of road infrastructure, the prospects for supply to African market of weapons and military equipment, training of African students in higher educational institutions of Kazakhstan.", - shared the results of the study Abenov.
In particular, the QazTrade study showed that the export of Kazakhstan's chemical industry and mechanical engineering products is seen as a favorable direction. Given that there is virtually no production of its own in Africa, and the growing agro-industrial complex needs these products, Kazakhstan could well establish the supply of fertilizers and mineral raw materials to the African market. In addition, the share of agriculture is the main one in the economies of the absolute majority of African countries, and the demand for agricultural machinery and components is steadily growing. In this case, it would be quite possible to use the capabilities of the Pavlodar tractor plant and other Kazakhstani enterprises. Transformers, batteries and bearings, as well as products of the metallurgical complex – ferroalloys and steel pipes-may also be in demand in the market of African countries.
There are also opportunities for exporting processed agricultural products: flour, cereals, fats and oils, and confectionery.
In terms of export of services, an important area of Kazakh-African cooperation can be assistance in training African personnel in educational institutions of the Republic of Kazakhstan.
