Retail chains: basic pricing conditions for social products have not changed

The process of implementing the national catalog of goods (NCG) and whether the upcoming increase in prices for Fuels and lubricants will affect socially important food products was discussed by First Vice Minister of Trade and Integration of the Republic of Kazakhstan Arman Shakkaliyev with representatives of large retail chains of the country.

The NCG is a single nomenclature of barcodes for each type of product. This is necessary to ensure transparency and purity of data on the products of retail chains, optimize the processes of sending and aggregating reports for government agencies, automate the processes of entering and searching for new products for sellers, and will eliminate the irrational expenditure of resources on the formation and provision of reports.

Today, the NCG already contains data on more than 6.5 million unique products of various categories. Currently, the collection of the nomenclature of socially significant goods and weight goods according to a given format from retail chains is underway. The launch of the NCG in pilot mode is scheduled for May of this year.

The second of the pressing issues on the agenda is the impact of the upcoming increase in fuel prices on food. Representatives of retail and retail chains stated that there are no prerequisites for changing prices for socially significant products on their part today, since the basic pricing conditions have not undergone significant changes. Prices for socially significant goods will continue to be economically reasonable.

For reference: The National catalog of goods is a reference directory of goods containing information about the name of the goods, a barcode, a description of the characteristics and properties of the goods, manufacturers, supplier and other attributes. The catalog can include both consumer goods and industrial equipment and other goods and services.
