Serik Zhumangarin instructed to increase the volume of vegetable canning

An operational meeting on the stabilization of prices for socially important food products was held today, March 4, under the chairmanship of Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin.

Serik Zhumangarin noted that over the past week, the growth rate of prices for the vegetable group slowed down, but did not stop, this indicates that insufficient socially significant goods were released to the market from stable funds.

«I instruct akimats not to keep stocks in warehouses and release them to the market in a larger volume, increasing the number of retail facilities where vegetables are sold», — S. Zhumangarin addressed the heads of akimats.

As the acting chairman of the MTI Trade Committee Aidar Abildabekov announced during the meeting, today, according to the regions, 56.2 thousand tons of vegetables from stocks have been sent into circulation. Of these, 18.4 thousand tons have already been sold, including onions – 4.9 thousand tons, cabbage – 2.8 thousand tons, potatoes – 7.0 thousand tons, carrots – 3.6 thousand tons. Over the past week, prices for carrots decreased by 0.6%, buckwheat – 0.5%, sugar – 0.3%, sunflower oil and chicken meat - 0.2%.

Aidar Abildabekov also informed about the work of regional commissions to identify intermediary schemes. Since the beginning of the year, there has been a positive dynamics of the work of the commissions in Almaty and Shymkent.

Over the past week in Atyrau region, the regional commission has reached an agreement with Atyrau ProbSnab LLP to reduce the wholesale price of butter by 60%. In Kostanay region, contracts on direct deliveries to large supermarkets of the region have been concluded with large producers, as a result of which intermediaries are excluded. In Zhambyl region, during the analysis of suppliers of socially significant food products, an unproductive intermediary selling cabbage was identified through a survey. Now work is underway here to conclude a contract for the direct supply of vegetables.
