The updated Standard sets out recommendations on how to make web content more accessible to users with disabilities. Accessibility involves overcoming a wide range of limitations, including visual, auditory, physical, speech, cognitive, language, neurological limitations and learning difficulties.
Also, compliance with all the principles in the new standard will make web content accessible to older users, whose abilities change with age, and in some cases also improve the use of content by all users as a whole.
It should be noted that at the end of January this year, this issue was discussed with all interested participants at a round table in the Senate of the Parliament of the Republic of Kazakhstan. At it, the speaker Ziyat Abdykaimov, an expert on digital inclusion, analyzed and presented approaches to increase the availability of information on the Internet for personal computers. For its part, the Committee of Technical Regulation and Metrology of the MTI Republic of Kazakhstan supported the initiative to update the standard as soon as possible in accordance with the latest version of international approaches.
«It's no secret that today there are information resources, websites that do not meet the requirements for accessibility of information for people with disabilities. Our task is to gradually introduce such standards that will respond to these challenges and provide such opportunities», - Kuanysh Yelikbayev said.
To date, the update of the standard on the accessibility of digital technologies for people with disabilities has already been included in the Plan for the current year. And soon there will be a modern standard for personal computers.
