Commodity interventions on vegetables begin in the regions

This week, in the regions, in pursuance of the Prime Minister's instructions, the distribution of stocks of social vegetables from the reserves of social and entrepreneurial corporations begins.

At an operational meeting held on February 8, 2023, chaired by Deputy Prime Minister - Minister of Trade and Integration Serik Zhumangarin, akimats were presented with a scheme for the distribution of stocks of socially important vegetables. As First Vice-Minister of Trade and Integration Arman Shakkaliyev announced, this week the regional commissions should decide on conducting commodity interventions, first of all, on onions, followed by carrots, potatoes, cabbage, with the definition of volumes, prices, conditions and points of implementation. It is mandatory to use cash registers. The duration of commodity interventions is from February to April. One of the main conditions is that the retail price must be within the framework of signed contracts.

According to the updated data of akimats, voiced by Vice Minister of Agriculture Baglan Bekbauov, the level of onion reserves in the country is 130%, for potatoes – 118%, carrots – 103%, cabbage – 74%. It is important to note that the level of stocks recommended by the Ministry of Agriculture to the regions for purchase is calculated from the demand in the off-season, which is 30% of the 4-month consumption of the urban population. Thus, the regions can begin to disperse vegetable stocks.

The Prime Minister gave a specific instruction to stabilize the situation with the prices of basic foodstuffs. The government has proposals, and the main thing that is required now is discipline and execution," Serik Zhumangarin addressed the heads of akimats. - For cabbage, I suggest that those who have not yet secured their stocks contract in Kyrgyzstan at a low price, we can provide support through JSC "Qaztrade". In the meantime, immediately proceed to the dismantling of vegetable stocks.
