Ministry of trade of Kazakhstan to reformat trade cooperation in Russian Federation

As part of the process of optimizing the work of state bodies, taking into account the high level of mutual cooperation with the Russian Federation, it was decided to terminate the work of the Trade Representative Office of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation. The draft relevant resolution was published for discussion on the open NPA website https://legalacts.egov.kz/npa/view?id=14397594

This is due to the fact that at present, institutional conditions have been created for Kazakhstani business to work in the Russian direction and solve all operational problems. At the same time, the released units will be aimed at strengthening Kazakhstan's diplomatic presence in other countries.

This decision does not require the cancellation of the intergovernmental agreement on the mutual establishment of trade representative offices of October 22, 1992 and does not affect the work of the Trade Representative Office of the Russian Federation in the Republic of Kazakhstan and the development of bilateral trade and economic cooperation in general.

The Russian Federation is the main trade and economic partner of Kazakhstan. This is due to a number of objective factors: geographical location, common economic space of the EAEU, developed legal framework, the availability of effective platforms for promoting bilateral cooperation (Intergovernmental Commission, forum of interregional cooperation, sub-commissions on the main areas of trade and economic cooperation). Today, about 8,000 companies and 3,348 joint ventures with Russian participation operate in Kazakhstan. The International Trade and Exhibition Center "Kazakhstan" (the only participant of JSC"NC" QazExpoCongress") operates on the territory of the EANE in Moscow, whose tasks include promoting cultural, humanitarian, trade and economic cooperation.

Taking into account the function of promoting economic diplomacy in the Russian Federation, in addition to the embassy of the Republic of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation, consulates general in St. Petersburg, Omsk, Kazan and Astrakhan are effectively functioning.

Further work on trade and economic cooperation of Kazakhstan in the Russian Federation will be continued through the partnership network of JSC TPDC "QazTrade", established in all major cities and regions of Russia.
